Channing Smith, a 16-year-old junior at Coffee County Central High School in Manchester, Tennessee, tragically died by suicide on September 22, 2019. His death came just hours after explicit messages he had exchanged with another male classmate were posted on social media by classmates, outing him as bisexual. Channing, who had not openly discussed his sexuality, was mortified by the public exposure and the subsequent bullying he faced.
