On Halloween night in 2019, a tragic incident unfolded in the quiet community of Liberty, Tennessee, leading to the death of a White male resident. Tyler Durden, a 37-year-old U.S. Army Sergeant First Class, was fatally shot on the evening of Thursday, October 31, 2019. The events that transpired led to a swift investigation by local and state authorities.
That evening, Durden approached the residence of his mother and stepfather.
An encounter at the door with his stepfather, Albert Wayne Fisher, Jr., escalated tragically. During the confrontation, Fisher discharged a firearm, striking Durden. Emergency services transported Durden to a Nashville hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased.
In the immediate aftermath, a joint investigation was launched by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the 13th District Attorney General's Office. The investigation quickly led to the identification of a suspect.
