On a late September day in 2021, the quiet of a rural road in Henry County, Tennessee, was shattered by a violent incident that left two people with fatal gunshot wounds. Kristen D. Warren, a 39-year-old female, was discovered bleeding in the roadway on Old Paris-Murray Road, alongside 30-year-old Lonzie Dunlap III. Both had suffered from apparent gunshot wounds and were found lying at the rear of a vehicle.
Emergency services responded to a 911 call at approximately 9:40 a.m. and both Warren and Dunlap were airlifted to medical facilities in Nashville for treatment. Dunlap was pronounced deceased upon his arrival at the hospital. Warren succumbed to her injuries on the morning of September 29, 2021, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. An obituary for Kristen Danielle Warren stated she passed away on September 28, 2021, surrounded by her family.
The initial investigation conducted by the Henry County Sheriff's Office pointed towards the incident being a result of a domestic dispute between Warren and Dunlap. Authorities found no evidence to suggest the involvement of any other individuals in the shooting. The case was investigated as a murder-suicide, with Dunlap believed to be the aggressor. As a result, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths.
Kristen Warren, born on December 15, 1982, in Murray, Kentucky, was a 2001 graduate of McKenzie High School and had earned her LPN from TCAT in Paris, Tennessee, in 2008. She was described as a devoted mother to her five children, with a bright and energetic personality who was passionate about her nursing career.
