Deputy Constable Adam Strunk, age 36, was shot and killed on September 24, 1901, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Strunk had been deputized and was part of a search party looking for two men who had robbed and beaten a family in Hampton Junction, New Jersey. The suspects had crossed into Pennsylvania and broken into a house in the Delaware Water Gap area.
