Edward Boyer, a 40-year-old man from Chester, PA, tragically lost his life on November 6, 1948. He was killed by Melvin Collins, a 38-year-old man from Exmore, Virginia, who committed a mass shooting from the window of his boarding room in Chester. Collins killed seven people and injured four before taking his own life.
