In the early morning hours of September 12, 2015, a violent encounter in a north Minneapolis residence claimed the life of 25-year-old Miguel Yobani Garcia Silvestre. Police responded to a report of a shooting at a home on the 1200 block of 22nd Avenue North at approximately 4:30 a.m..
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a chaotic scene with multiple victims. Garcia Silvestre was found inside the residence, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen, and was pronounced dead at the scene.. Two other individuals were also found with serious, but not life-threatening, gunshot wounds and were transported to North Memorial Medical Center for treatment. A fourth victim, who had fled the house after the shooting, was located a few blocks away with injuries that were not considered life-threatening..
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office later officially identified Garcia Silvestre and determined his manner of death to be a homicide. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the Minneapolis police were actively investigating the shooting. Authorities urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Minneapolis Police or CrimeStoppers.. No suspects or arrests were publicly announced in the initial reports of the investigation.
