In the early morning hours of December 27, 2014, the life of 43-year-old Kimberly Waller, a Black female from East Liberty, was tragically cut short in the Knoxville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A 911 call just before 6:30 a.m. reported a vehicle had struck a pole on Dove Way. When first responders arrived, they discovered Ms. Waller inside the car, unresponsive.
It was soon determined that she had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office officially pronounced Kimberly Waller dead at 6:30 a.m. and her death was swiftly ruled a homicide. Homicide detectives from the Pittsburgh Police were called to the scene to begin what would become a complex and challenging investigation into the violent death of the 43-year-old woman. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed to gather further evidence.
In the days and weeks that followed, authorities continued their investigation into the shooting death of Kimberly Waller. As of early January 2015, no suspects had been identified and no arrests had been made in connection with her murder. The case was one of several homicides that occurred in Allegheny County in late 2014, contributing to what was reported as the highest murder total in five years. Despite the ongoing police investigation, there have been no subsequent news reports indicating that any suspects have been arrested, charged, or convicted for the murder of Kimberly Waller.
