On a Saturday evening in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, the life of 32-year-old Maria Choo Lin Choo was tragically cut short in what authorities would later describe as a murder-suicide. The events unfolded on November 25, 2017, along the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the Woodhaven Road on-ramp. Pennsylvania State Police were initially dispatched to the area around 5:30 p.m. following reports of a woman running in traffic.
Upon arrival, a trooper discovered a silver SUV, registered to Maria, parked on the shoulder with its hazard lights flashing.
As the trooper approached, the sound of two gunshots pierced the evening air. A grim discovery was made near the vehicle where both Maria Choo Lin Choo and a 60-year-old man, David Choo Lin Choo, were found deceased. Maria had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her body. David Choo Lin Choo was found lying on top of her, holding a semi-automatic handgun in his right hand. His death was determined to be the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation that followed concluded that David Choo Lin Choo was the perpetrator in the death of Maria Choo Lin Choo before taking his own life. While they shared the same last name, authorities did not publicly comment on the nature of their relationship. The case was closed as a murder-suicide, with no other suspects sought in connection with the tragic incident.
