In a tragic turn of events on Friday, June 14, 2019, in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, 48-year-old Johnnie Boyce Johnson, a male, was found deceased in what was determined to be a triple homicide and suicide. The bodies were discovered at a home on Gooseneck Road. Johnson had been a dedicated employee for over 20 years at Ed's Heating Company, owned by one of the other victims, Edwin Bidlack.
The investigation by state police in Bradford County concluded that Jesse Lee Northrup, 31, was the
perpetrator of the violent incident. Northrup first shot and killed his mother, 60-year-old Candy Diane Bidlack, who was found in a camper on the property. He then proceeded to shoot his stepfather, 54-year-old Edwin Bidlack, in a garage on the property. Johnson was the third victim, and his body was discovered in the basement of the residence. Both Edwin Bidlack and Johnnie Johnson were killed 'execution-style' with single gunshot wounds to the back of the head. After the killings, Northrup took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to the Bradford County Coroner, a clear motive for the horrific event remains part of an ongoing investigation. However, it was reported that Northrup had recently been fired from his job and had ceased taking several prescribed medications, three of which were noted as being concerning to stop abruptly. Neighbors and community members expressed their shock and grief over the sudden loss of the well-regarded victims. Johnnie Johnson was remembered as a man who enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, and was an avid racing fan.
