On October 31, 2019, twelve-year-old Laina Rae Haney was tragically shot and killed in her home in New Paris, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Her mother, Amanda Jane Figard, was also found deceased at the scene. The incident occurred between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. on the 2700 block of Rocklick Hollow Road in Napier Township.

Authorities determined that Laina's stepfather, Benjamin Figard, was responsible for the killings. Figard, aged 35, called 911 and confessed to shooting both his wife and ...
