In the early morning hours of December 10, 2020, Christopher Wilson, a 52-year-old father of nine, was fatally shot in the parking lot of his workplace, Kuusakoski Recycling, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The investigation into his death revealed a murder plot orchestrated by his ex-girlfriend, Joyce Brown Rodriguez, and carried out by her son, Khalill Brown.
Wilson had recently ended a two-year relationship with Rodriguez and had started a new relationship.
Unable to accept the breakup, Rodriguez began to harass Wilson with persistent calls and texts. In the days leading up to the murder, the situation escalated. Witnesses reported seeing Rodriguez arguing with Wilson in the same parking lot where he would later be killed. She had also allegedly scratched the word 'child' into the hood of his car.
Driven by a refusal to accept the end of their relationship, Joyce Brown Rodriguez enlisted the help of her son, Khalill Brown. On the morning of the shooting, Rodriguez drove her son to Wilson's workplace and waited in the car. As Wilson was speaking with a coworker, Khalill Brown approached him and shot him multiple times, continuing to fire even after Wilson had fallen to the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified Joyce Brown Rodriguez and Khalill Brown as suspects. They were both charged with murder and conspiracy. In a plea deal, Joyce Brown Rodriguez pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and conspiracy and agreed to testify against her son. In July 2023, Khalill Brown was convicted of first-degree murder. He was subsequently sentenced to a mandatory life in prison. In August 2023, Joyce Brown Rodriguez was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in state prison for her role in the murder of Christopher Wilson.
