John L. Hubbell, a 31-year-old Caucasian male, was a dedicated officer with the Cleveland Division of Police. On June 4, 1979, while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect, he was shot and killed. Hubbell and his partner, Officer Thomas Smyczek, spotted the suspect, Anthony Lemay, working on a car in front of his home on Hough Avenue.
