On July 23, 1997, Calvin B. Strong, a 32-year-old white male, was found shot to death in his vehicle on Switzer Road north of Fostoria, Wood County, Ohio. The incident occurred during what was believed to be a drug transaction. Strong was in his car with another male subject when they drove to rural Switzer Road to meet other individuals in a second vehicle.
The transaction took place through the open front passenger side window, and at that moment, the subject who approached Strong's vehicle produced a gun and shot through the window, targeting Strong. The shooter hit Strong repeatedly in the head, neck, shoulder, and back. The passenger in Strong's car was left unharmed.
The shooter then returned to his vehicle, turned around on the gravel roadway, and drove away from the scene. Tire tracks in the gravel confirmed the presence of a second vehicle. Despite the investigation, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved. The Wood County Sheriff's Office continues to seek information from the public to solve this 21-year-old murder.
