In the summer of 2014, a tragic incident on Detroit's west side claimed the life of 56-year-old Cortez McCoy. On the evening of July 14th, a dispute escalated into violence, forever altering the lives of those involved and leaving a community in mourning. The catalyst for the fatal shooting was an assault on a 35-year-old man by another individual. Following the altercation, the man who had been assaulted reportedly left the scene and returned with a long-barreled firearm.
