Dustin Brooks, a 27-year-old man from Dayton, OH, tragically died on April 13, 2015, after being shot in the neck while driving away from a residence in Harrison Township. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, and Brooks was found in his vehicle, which had been riddled with bullets. The Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies traced the shell casings back to a home where an alleged bootleg liquor operation was being run.
Six people inside the home surrendered to the SWAT team after an almost seven-hour standoff, but none have been charged in connection with Brooks' death.
The investigation revealed that Brooks was leaving the residence when the gunfire began. Despite the extensive investigation, no arrest warrants have been issued, and the sheriff's office continues to work on suspect information.
