On May 25, 2016, 25-year-old Charles Herrod, an African American male, was fatally shot multiple times in the chest around 1:30 p.m. on the 4000 block of East 151st Street, near Harvard Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. According to reports, an unidentified man in a red car began shooting at Charles Herrod. In response, Charles Herrod exited his Pontiac G6 on East 151st Street and returned fire but was struck during the exchange. He succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
