Gary Gene Stevens, a 60-year-old male of unspecified ethnicity from Laurelville, OH, died valiantly at his home on September 1, 2016. He was a proud U.S. Marine and later worked in the HVAC industry. Gary was known for his strong support of the Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. He is survived by his sister, Vickie, and his pride and joy, Stacey Stevens, as well as his “boys,” Donald and Sarge, and great friends such as Spank Morrison, Marc Zingarelli, and Robert Young.
Following Gary's death, an investigation led to the arrest of Joshua M. Conrad. Conrad was charged with aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, grand theft, and having weapons while under disability. The charges stemmed from an incident on August 31, 2016, when Conrad and Tamika Athey traveled to Circleville to buy heroin and cocaine. Later that night, Conrad called Athey to tell her he had been shot. The investigation revealed that Conrad had been involved in a conflict with Josh Cross, which led to Conrad's shooting.
The case went to trial, and Conrad was found guilty on all charges. He was sentenced to life without parole plus thirty-seven years. The court's decision was upheld on appeal, and Conrad's conviction stands as a testament to the thorough investigation and legal proceedings that followed Gary Stevens' tragic death.
