Javanta Virden, a 25-year-old African American man from Akron, OH, tragically passed away on December 26, 2016. He was working on a vehicle in a parking lot on Ericsson Avenue when he was approached by three individuals and subsequently shot. Virden was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into Virden's death led to the arrest of Darshawn McCormick, who was found guilty of two counts of murder, felonious assault, and having a weap ...
