Arianna Dawn Cope, a 19-year-old woman of White ethnicity, tragically passed away on February 24, 2018, in Perry, Ohio. She was born on January 9, 1999, in Willoughby, Ohio, to the late Vicki Ann Thornhill. Arianna was a student at Lake Erie College, where she was studying to become a nurse. She had recently graduated from Perry High School in May 2017 and worked at Orbis in Mentor. Arianna was known for her love of travel, shopping, and attending concerts with her mother.
The circumstances surrounding Arianna's death were part of a tragic incident that also claimed the life of her mother, Vickie Thornhill, age 59. The incident occurred at their residence in Perry Township, where they were planning to move out. Ralph Moore Jr., Arianna's uncle, age 62, fatally shot both Vickie and Arianna before taking his own life. According to authorities, Moore was distraught over the prospect of living alone after his sister and niece moved out. The bodies were discovered around 8:30 a.m. by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy.
The case was investigated by the Lake County Sheriff's Office, but no arrests or further litigation followed, as it was determined to be a murder-suicide. The tragic event left the community in mourning, and Arianna's family and friends continue to remember her fondly.
