On October 23, 2012, Delano Applewhite, a 32-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, was murdered in a violent incident. The circumstances of the crime involved Michael Terreal Davis, who accused Delano Applewhite and his girlfriend of selling him heroin that had been mixed with an additive. Tensions escalated, leading Davis to forcibly confine Applewhite and his girlfriend in the trunk of his vehicle. During the ensuing events, Applewhite managed to escape the trunk while Davis was driving.
