Martha Elizabeth Young, a 34-year-old woman from Coshocton, OH, tragically passed away on January 4, 2021. She was a loving mother to her four daughters and enjoyed reading, music, and practicing holistic and Reiki healing. Martha had served in the United States Army and worked as a phlebotomist.
The cause of Martha's death was a double homicide. She and her brother, Joshua Allen Jones, were shot to death at the home of Edward L. Young, Martha's husband. Edward was later found guilty of the murders and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for each murder charge. He also received additional sentences for firearm specifications and having weapons under disability.
The tragic incident occurred in the Olde Hickory subdivision of Canal Lewisville, where Martha and Edward lived with their children. On the night of the incident, Edward allegedly shot Martha and Joshua after an argument, and then fled the scene in a car with their children. He was pursued by police and eventually arrested after crashing the car.
The prosecution presented several witnesses and over 100 items of evidence during the trial.
