Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters criticized the justice system, stating that the use of ankle monitors was insufficient to protect the public and that the two men should not have been on the street. Deters emphasized that Gray was murdered in front of his infant child by individuals who should have been in custody.
The case highlighted significant failures in the criminal justice system and raised questions about the effectiveness of electronic monitoring units. Coleman and Dailey are currently being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center, facing the possibility of life in prison if convicted on all charges.
