Malachai Loftin, a 52-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on January 2, 2006, in Pender County, North Carolina. Loftin was shot in the head at the home of his friend, Michelle Kirby, in Atkinson, NC. Kirby, who was 34 years old at the time, was also assaulted by the perpetrator, Lakane Murphy, who was Kirby's ex-boyfriend.
