David Harbin, age 26, was murdered on August 18, 2013, in his Detroit home. The circumstances leading up to his death were connected to an argument over a stolen video game system. The events began when Harbin accused Jarvis Jemel Boykins, the defendant in the case, of stealing his gaming console. Boykins initially retrieved Harbin's shotgun during the confrontation, but Harbin managed to calm him down, assuring him that the situation wasn't serious enough to escalate into violence.
