Erien Amanda Smith, a 22-year-old woman from the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina, tragically lost her life on May 18, 2010. The incident occurred in the early morning hours when James Ernest Lespier, an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, called the Cherokee Indian Police Department and reported that "Mandy is dead."
