On March 14, 2016, Mark Anthony Wilson, a 34-year-old male of African American ethnicity, was tragically killed in his Claremont, NC home. The incident occurred during a home invasion where Mark Wilson and his partner, Deidra LaCarol Ramseur, aged 39, were shot and killed. The couple's 10-year-old daughter was not present at the time of the crime.
The investigation revealed that the couple was murdered during a robbery orchestrated by Jordan Alexander Rivera and his accomplices.
The perpetrators, including Arsenio Dewayne Curtis, Devin Maurice Ussery, William Crawford Powell Jr., and Reand Pablo-Antonio Rivera, forced their way into the home and killed Wilson and Ramseur to steal approximately $1,200 and about 30 grams of marijuana. The crime scene showed signs of forced entry, and the investigation focused on the front door, which appeared to have been broken into.
The case was extensively investigated by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, which worked diligently to gather evidence and identify the suspects. Over the years, multiple arrests were made, and the co-defendants were brought to trial. Arsenio Dewayne Curtis was the last to be convicted and received two consecutive life sentences without parole for his role in the murders. The other co-defendants, including Jordan Alexander Rivera, Devin Maurice Ussery, William Crawford Powell Jr., and Reand Pablo-Antonio Rivera, were also sentenced to prison for their involvement in the crime.
