Jordan Whitney Baldwin, a 29-year-old woman from Asheboro, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on October 30, 2016. Jordan was a native of Randolph County and a 2005 graduate of Asheboro High School. She was actively involved in her community, volunteering at the Big Dipper Restaurant, CUOC, and Randolph County Animal Shelter. Jordan was also a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Her untimely death left a void in the lives of her family and friends, who remembered her as a kind and compassionate individual.
On the evening of October 30, 2016, Asheboro police responded to a welfare check at the Matthew Grande Apartments located at 2230 N. Fayetteville St. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jordan Whitney Baldwin deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The investigation revealed that she had been shot, and a male subject was also found in the apartment with a gunshot wound. The injured male was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Following the incident, police arrested 62-year-old William Edward Duty of Siler City in connection with the shooting. Duty was charged with murder and was held in the Randolph County Jail without bond. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jordan's death continued, but no additional suspects were sought at the time.
Jordan Whitney Baldwin's death was a devastating loss for her family, friends, and the Asheboro community.
