Ami Marie Fletcher, a 33-year-old woman from Taylorsville, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on July 1, 2017, as a result of domestic violence. Ami, who was of Caucasian descent, was found deceased in her vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred at her father's residence on Houck Mountain Road in the Ellendale Community of Alexander County.
The primary suspect in Ami Fletcher's death was her estranged husband, Jeremy Wayne Fletcher, aged 35.
Jeremy, also of Caucasian descent, was believed to have shot Ami in the head while she was sitting in her Jeep Cherokee. He also shot her father, Charles Richard Brown, aged 59, in the neck. Charles Brown survived the attack and was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Following the shooting, a manhunt was launched for Jeremy Fletcher. He was found deceased the next day, July 2, 2017, in a barn at his residence on Duck Creek Lane in Caldwell County. Jeremy had committed suicide by hanging. Prior to this incident, Jeremy had been charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury for shooting Ami in the leg on March 1, 2017. This case was still pending in court at the time of the murder.
In connection with Ami Fletcher's death, Jeremy's father, Timothy Fletcher, was also arrested. Timothy was charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder and Accessory After the Fact to Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. He was released on bond after the March 2017 domestic shooting incident involving the same victim.
