Deangelo Brooks, a 32-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on October 30, 2019, in Shallotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 800 block of McMilly Road. According to reports, Brooks was found in a yard, still alive, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Three individuals were charged in connection with Brooks' murder. Keontae Trulique Hill, a 17-year-old male from Ash, and Amari Tyrese Singleton, an 18-year-old male from Southport, were both charged with murder. Additionally, Shamari Quintell Massey, a 26-year-old male from Winnabow, was charged with accessory after the fact to murder. All three suspects were taken into custody at the Brunswick County Detention Facility.
Brooks was a cook at Sharky's Waterfront Restaurant in Ocean Isle Beach, where he was remembered as a dedicated and caring individual who would go out of his way to help others. His death left a significant impact on his colleagues and the community.
