Tey’Honnah was a 2018 graduate of Statesville High School, where she was an active cheerleader and known for her vibrant personality. On the fateful night of her
death, Tey’Honnah was fatally shot around 2:30 in the morning on the 1100 block of 5th Street in Statesville. According to police reports, there were more than fifty people in the area when the shooting occurred. Despite the presence of such a large crowd, the investigation into her death has been challenging. Her mother, Tamika Smyre, expressed her heartbreak and called for justice, hoping that those responsible would be caught and face the maximum penalty.
