On November 5, 2015, Derek Carter, a 38-year-old Black male from Detroit, Michigan, was fatally shot in what authorities believe was a targeted gang-related execution. Carter was discovered with three gunshot wounds to the head at a residence on Meyers Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Law enforcement sources identified Carter as a co-leader of the Ravendale gang, a group implicated in narcotics trafficking, illegal firearms distribution, and dogfighting operations in Detroit.
