In the quiet community of Ethel, Louisiana, the life of Eddy Earl Hall, a 53-year-old White male, was tragically cut short on April 27, 2014. Hall, the owner of a local painting business, was discovered deceased at his residence alongside his wife of 28 years, Connie F. Hall. The couple had been fatally stabbed, a violent end to their lives that would lead to an international manhunt.
The investigation into the double homicide pointed to two suspects, Dulce Maria Funez and Armando Reyes
Diaz. Authorities believed the pair fled the area, possibly accompanied by a young boy. For a time, the case grew cold, with the suspects remaining at large. The search for justice, however, crossed international borders, leading to a significant break in the case.
In December 2015, Dulce Maria Funez was located and apprehended in Germany in connection with an unrelated matter. Following her arrest, a lengthy extradition process began, involving the cooperation of the U.S. Department of Justice, the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office, the U.S. Marshals, and Louisiana State Police. In June 2016, Funez was successfully extradited back to Louisiana to face charges for her alleged role in the deaths of Eddy and Connie Hall. She was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. While Funez was in custody, her alleged accomplice, Armando Reyes Diaz, remained a fugitive, with his whereabouts unknown.
