On May 27, 2019, 40-year-old Leah Marie Carlos was found deceased in her residence located in the 200 block of North Main Project Road in Schriever, Louisiana. A maintenance worker discovered her body. Investigators from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and determined that Carlos had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
The authorities subsequently launched a homicide investigation into her death.
While Carlos resided at the Schriever address where she was found, she was also known to live in the Thibodaux area and other parts of Terrebonne Parish. She also frequented the New Orleans area.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Leah Marie Carlos, and the case remains unsolved. Detectives have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest in the case. A cash reward of up to $1,000 has been offered by Bayou Region Crimestoppers for information that results in an arrest.
