Thomas McGhee, a 27-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 14, 2020, in Cottonport, Louisiana. The incident occurred around midnight on Martin Luther King Drive, where McGhee was attempting to de-escalate a fight. According to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, McGhee was fatally shot by Devante Caldwell, a 26-year-old male from Cottonport.
