In the quiet community of Slaughter, Louisiana, the discovery of a body inside a vehicle parked alongside a rural highway shattered the morning calm on February 17, 2022. The deceased was identified as Mark Anthony Boitnott, a 47-year-old male. The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office was alerted to the suspicious vehicle near the intersection of LA 955 and LA 412 shortly after 6 a.m..
Upon their arrival, deputies found Boitnott inside the vehicle.
An autopsy later confirmed that Mark Anthony Boitnott's death was a homicide, caused by gunshot wounds. The investigation quickly led to a suspect, 24-year-old Cemontra D. Anderson, who was arrested the following day. Anderson faced a slew of serious charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery, and obstruction of justice. This pointed to a violent encounter that ended tragically for Boitnott.
Ultimately, Cemontra D. Anderson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. In April 2023, he was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the death of Mark Anthony Boitnott.
