In the late morning of Tuesday, November 3, 2009, a burst of violence shattered the daily rhythm of the Dorchester neighborhood in Boston. Twenty-seven-year-old Philip Jackson, an African-American male, was in the vicinity of Bowdoin and Westville Streets when he was struck by multiple gunshots. The incident prompted a swift response from Area C-11 police officers, who arrived at the scene at approximately 11:56 a.m. to find Jackson grievously wounded.
