Deputy Game Warden G. Earle Eldredge, a 37-year-old white male, was tragically killed on February 24, 1907, while performing his duties in Ringwood, Illinois. Eldredge, who had served with the Illinois Department of Conservation for seven years, was investigating reports of poachers on his family's nature preserve northeast of Richmond in McHenry County.
