In the bright light of a Tuesday afternoon, on August 17, 2010, the life of 39-year-old Terrence Small, an African-American man, was tragically cut short on a street in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Around noon, police responded to the area outside 2 Shafter Street to find Small lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. His death marked the 19th homicide in Dorchester that year.
