Charles Keith Macklin, a 17-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on August 21, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred when Macklin attempted to steal a Jeep from an off-duty Chicago Fire Department lieutenant on the city's West Side. The lieutenant had left the vehicle running, and Macklin jumped behind the wheel. As Macklin began to drive away, the lieutenant ran in front of the Jeep and shouted for him to get out.
