On the evening of September 15, 2014, 21-year-old African American male Frank Denard was fatally shot while driving in East Oakland, California. The incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of 76th Avenue, near International Boulevard. After being shot, Denard's vehicle crashed nearby, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of his death, Denard was believed to be a high-ranking member of the 69th Avenue gang, also known as the 69th Village gang.
