On a summer day in Baltimore, Maryland, the life of Jeffrey Adrion Alston, a 23-year-old Black male, was cut short. On August 5, 2008, Alston was found shot at 12:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of West Fayette Street. He was rushed to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His death was one of 234 homicides that plagued the city that year, a period marked by a high rate of violent crime.
