Johanna P. Cowart-Williams, a 42-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on August 3, 2021, in Urbana, Illinois. She was found with multiple gunshot wounds in her home on West Church Street. The Urbana Police Department responded to a report of shots fired around 1:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Johanna unconscious and immediately attempted CPR, but she never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital.
