Melinda Crump, a 54-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on December 18, 2021, in Chicago, Illinois. She was walking to a convenience store to buy lottery tickets when she was caught in the crossfire of a shootout initiated by Travis Andrews, a 26-year-old man. Andrews fired multiple shots at an unidentified individual, who returned fire, and one of the stray bullets struck Crump in the abdomen, leading to her death.
