In the summer of 2023, the life of 45-year-old LaKisha Wheeler, a beloved mother and grandmother from Baltimore, Maryland, was tragically cut short. On the evening of July 7th, police responded to a call about an unconscious person in the parking lot of Pikesville High School. There, they made a grim discovery: Wheeler was found in her car, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, sparking a homicide investigation into her death.
Investigators soon learned that Wheeler had been reported missing by her family the day before she was found. The investigation into her death quickly focused on 53-year-old Levi Feldman, the father of Wheeler's six-year-old son. It was revealed that Wheeler had an active protective order against Feldman, which he had violated just a month prior. The motive for the killing appeared to stem from Feldman's jealousy over Wheeler's new relationship; he had reportedly threatened to kill both her and her new boyfriend.
The details of how Wheeler was lured to her death were chilling. On the morning of July 6th, Feldman allegedly called her, claiming his car had broken down on the interstate and that he needed tools from her vehicle. Wheeler, agreeing to help, left her home and was never heard from again. Surveillance footage from the high school captured her car entering the parking lot that morning. A short time later, a man identified as Feldman was seen exiting the vehicle and walking away.
Following an investigation that was aided by surveillance footage, Levi Feldman was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence. He was held without bond. In February 2025, Levi Feldman was convicted of the first-degree murder of LaKisha Wheeler. For his crime, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
