Charles Eugene "Charley" Campbell, a 35-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on November 16, 1974, in Pulaski County, Georgia. Campbell, who was serving as a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, was on duty in Perry, Florida, when he was abducted during a routine traffic stop. The suspect, Paul John Knowles, an escaped fugitive, kidnapped Campbell and another individual, James Meyer, and transported them to Georgia.
