Linda Gilreath, a white female, was tragically murdered on May 11, 1979, in Cobb County, Georgia. She was in the process of obtaining a divorce from her husband, Fred Marion Gilreath, Jr., and had been staying with her mother. On the day of her death, Linda, along with her father, Gerrit Van Leeuwen, went to the Gilreath residence to collect some personal belongings.
