On a chaotic Saturday night in March 2012, the life of 18-year-old Ervin Lee Jefferson III was cut short in front of his family's home in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood in DeKalb County, Georgia. The young man, a father to a baby girl, was fatally shot on March 24, 2012, during a tense confrontation that unfolded on Pleasant Wood Drive. The events of that evening were set in motion when a car carrying several young women arrived with the intention of confronting Jefferson's younger sister.
