In the small town of Omega, Georgia, a sense of disbelief and sorrow unfolded following the tragic death of 19-year-old Tyler Antwan Johnson. On a Wednesday in January 2014, Johnson was fatally shot in the head at a residence located at 1566 Georgia Avenue. The young man was airlifted to a hospital in Thomasville, but succumbed to his injuries later that day, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting set in motion a swift law enforcement response, aided by the crucial assistance of a local citizen. An observant individual witnessed a vehicle in the vicinity of the shooting and took down its description. This vital piece of information was passed on to the authorities, and a Georgia Department of Natural Resources Ranger later spotted a vehicle matching the description on Ty Ty Omega Road. With the assistance of sheriff's deputies, the vehicle was stopped, leading to the apprehension of four individuals from Thomasville: 21-year-old Trevon Azell Rushton, 31-year-old Kelly Denise Warren, 24-year-old Edwin A. Williams, and 21-year-old Carrington Diore Hollis.
