Vernicia Woodard, a 26-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed on August 22, 2014, in Hapeville, Georgia. Her body was discovered by Hapeville Police at a city-owned dumping ground, where it had been set on fire. Investigations revealed that Woodard had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to her head before her body was doused with gasoline and ignited.
