Enrique Delos-Reyes Jr., a 20-year-old male, was working a shift he wasn't scheduled for at the Smoke 911 shop in Woodstock, Georgia, on the night of May 20, 2015. He was filling in for a coworker who had not shown up for their shift when two men entered the store around 11:45 p.m. The men, who had followed a customer into the establishment, were there to commit a robbery. During the course of the crime, Delos-Reyes was shot once in the chest. He was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he died from his injuries the following day. A customer inside the shop at the time was not harmed.
The investigation quickly led authorities to identify two suspects, Justin Clay White, 25, of College Park, and Dominique Rashad Stevens, 22, of Atlanta. It was discovered that the murder of Delos-Reyes was the culmination of a multi-county crime spree that included a series of armed robberies at other smoke shops and GameStop locations, as well as a carjacking where they stole the gray BMW used as a getaway vehicle in the Woodstock shooting. The two men, who knew each other from living in New Orleans before relocating to the Atlanta area after Hurricane Katrina, fled to Louisiana following the murder. On June 5, 2015, U.S. Marshals apprehended both White and Stevens in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
Following their extradition to Georgia, both men faced a lengthy indictment that included charges of racketeering, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and false imprisonment. Investigators learned that White was the triggerman in the fatal shooting of Delos-Reyes. Faced with the evidence against them, both Justin Clay White and Dominique Rashad Stevens eventually pleaded guilty to the racketeering and murder charges. Stevens was sentenced to life in prison plus five years. For his role as the shooter, White received two consecutive life sentences. An accomplice in the broader crime spree also pleaded guilty to armed robbery and received a five-year sentence.
